New Pics!!

Here are the pictures of the 19" Walleye consumed by the 35" Northern on the Cobham in June. This is courtesy of Tom Nelson. Pretty cool picture. Thanks Tom.

Here is another Lake Personalized hat.. The Don Larson party is off to Jeanette Lake again. 10 men, Various ages and sizes all out to have a "Good Time". Don was not able to make the trip this year but the guys did him good by putting his face on their hats. If you look close you will see that it is a 30+ inch walleye he is holding. They like to fish both lakes but some have a preference foe Sesi. Great bunch of guys, they have been a Lac Seul Airways guest for many years. They head in tomorrow. Weather is supposed to be great.

New Gazebo and Outhouse!!

The new Gazebo is in place at the Cobham River. It is a nice Roomy 12X12 gazebo out on the high deck we built this spring. It is a Magnificent view from up there. A new second outhouse is up North but still has to be assembled.

Jeanette Lake has an additional outhouse already. My Brother and I put it up last week. Those camps see a quite a number of people and all the stuff that comes with that, if you know what I mean.
Here is the New Gazebo at the River.

Noteworthy Fish of the Week

I want to keep everyone up to date on the Trophy Fish being caught and released, as well as a quick quote from the Party.

Cobham River, Sander Party. 31" Walleye, and Fat. Two 41' Northerns. Fish were everywhere.

Jeanette, Buker Party. First flyin as well. Fishing a little slow at first but found the fish towards the end of the trip and caught the heck out of them. Everything else exceeded their expectations.

Blackbirch, Gene Bowers had 5 new fisherman with him and they were ecstatic when I picked them up. Great time.

Cherrington, Zech Party. 26" Walleye off the dock in 5 feet of water on a floating Rapalla. Caught a hook in the finger and a Northern on the other hook. Good thing he is tough.

Cobham, Absher Party. Most fish he has ever caught in one day in his life. Has been going to a new lake every year but rebooked Daniels for next year, same time.

Shearstone, Fingland Party. 27" walleye and 42" Northern. Fish were in 5 to 7 feet of water. Great time.

Even John falls in the Lake once in a Blue Moon!

Yes, even I fall in the lake every once in a while. It has been quite a few years but I knew it would happen eventually. This time I had an audience. I was unloading barrels of gas at the Morley cabin where the water is still quite high. High water makes everything more difficult. When you have 350 lbs coming at you and your feet are in the water you have to be careful. I had everything under control and had the big girl(gas barrel) right where I wanted her. She stopped just before the end of the slide and I had to give her a little nudge to get to the bottom and Sploosh!!! The drum was in the water. Not a problem, I have fished a barrel of gas out of the water before. The only problem was that it was floating away. I reached out to keep it close. I had it by my fingernails and guess what..... SPLASH! I was in the lake with it. I started swimming and the dog paddle after the drum that was getting further away when I realized I was in only 3 feet of water.LOL Wet up to the neck and a drum in the lake with 6 fisherman watching and laughing. They thought they got a picture but no dice. I actually had a laugh myself. My brother was there helping me as well. That was probably the worst part. We are quite close and he thought that was great.

Here are some pictures from the Clark Party. They fished Loree Lake last week. They reported that the numbers were down but the quality was excellent. Alot of changing weather, as you can see from the pictures.

Tough guy, Lipping a Northern Pike! This is Hal Sigurdson. The Manager of my hockey team, the Lundar Falcons. He is the one who smoothes things over at the league meetings and gets scolded when we misbehave on the ice. Some of my friends and teammates make a trip up every year and this is the first time Hal has been able to make it. He has been looking forward to the Otter ride for a long time. The fishing report is yet to come. They went to Cherrington Lake.Another sunrise, Fog in the distance. Got lucky and had a clear path to Blackbirch.

Where would you like to go on a trip? The Islands or Canada?

We have had alot of our families coming up and the oldest kids are going to be heading off to college in the fall. Rena and I have been able to watch these kids grow up.

The latest family to come across the Border to visit us is the Klees family. They have been fishing with us since the youngest made her first trip when she was 2 years old, 12 years ago. Tracey is the oldest, then Lauren, and Nicki. Roger, the dad, offered the girls a trip because Tracey is off to college in the fall and it will only get harder to get schedules in line as they grow older. Roger offered the girls a trip somewhere together. Hawai, the Islands, where ever. He was pleasantly surprised that they all wanted to come to Canada. Amik Outposts has been their destination for many years and many lakes. This time they chose to go to Cobham Lake, in the Morley cabin. They even bring the dog along.

It is very nice to see families, especially all girls no less that enjoy coming up here to enjoy the solitude and peacefulness of the North. I have two girls, and take pride in being able to show them how to hunt and fish as well. Some people may call Roger crazy or brave going to an Outpost with his three daughters but they have more experience in the bush than most.

Anyways, it is nice to see and I hope that they are lucky enough to find a boyfriend or husband who enjoys the outdoors.
